How do I get a ISBN # for my book?

Publishers usually assign your book an ISBN#, and if you're with a traditional publisher, you won't have to worry about that.





If you're self publishing however, you have a few options.





ISBN#s are purchased in blocks of ten usually, and get pretty expensive. Depending on what self-publisher you're using however, there may be a deal available for you to purchase one they have. I know Lulu.com offers such deals, for example. If you need to purhcase it yourself, however, you can visit http://www.isbn.org for details.





Also, keep in mind that while current ISBN#s are ten digits, this is changing to thirteen digits in 2007, as I understand it.

If your book is in wikipedia you probably can get the isbn there, too.|||I THINK that it first has to be published. If this is so - when it is catalogued it will be assigned an ISBN#.
