http://www.catchthesnitch.com/books/firs鈥?/a>|||it depends the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) changed in the mid 90s originally each publisher had their own numbers to start the ISBN so you could tell who published what book for instance Macmillan who publish HP started with 1407.
The system changed in the 90s due to bookdata (the system that tracks books sales around the world) running out of numbers so now all ISBNs start with 9780..
the first 4 HPs were published under the old system,the last 2 under the new system.
you won't ba able to order the first editions you will have to contact book dealers to get the best shot!
