Is there something that allows you to convert titles to isbn numbers?

Is there something that allows you to convert titles to isbn numbers?|||google.com|||Basically... no.

Or at least not to my knowledge. The demand for such a tool would be huge though I reckon.

The problem is you'd need a database holding all of the ISBNs and titles available which doesn't exist.

You haven't said what it is you're trying to do, but the slow way is to trawl through someting like http://www.gardners.com/gardners/default鈥?/a> or http://www.amazon.co.uk. Maybe there is some programmatical way to process the results from these websites based on the ISBN query?

As I say it all depends what you're doing...|||Even if there is, you would have to know the publisher and edition. You can have multiple ISBNs for a single title.|||No, because the title does not specify the isbn number. Plus, there could be several books with the same title that have different isbn numbers. Hence, I wouldn't think there's anything like this.|||A book is assigned an isbn number when it is published. If your are dealing with a print on demand publisher you will probably have to purchase an ISBN from the publisher. They buy them in blocks of a thousand.|||If you have just a few, why not try Amazon? Type in the book title as if you intend to buy one. They usually provide the ISBN.|||You can't, but the Library of Congress can.
