What steps must I take to get an ISBN number to sell and market homemade candy ?

for those that are selling homemade cookies in local markets,etc. beside your food label what else are you required to have on your product package|||You need a UPC number (ISBN is for books). You need to register with GS1 US. http://www.gs1us.org/

Barcode image can be manufactured here:

http://www.BarcodeRobot.com/upc-a.html|||The front label will have:

-product name, eg, oatmeal cookies

-weight, eg, 16 ounces

-company name

The back label will have:

-nutrition / serving information, eg, 2 cookies

-ingredients

-expiration date

You don't need an ISBN number, that's just code. You can create your own, assuming you stay local, for the computer it should be all numbers:

kind of cookie-batch-date

101-10-010809

this is for quality control.

But if you really need those ISBN numbers the best place to check is with import-export brokers, they have a huge book for every possible item made.
