Is a book's ISBN number ever removed from the library of congress catalogue?

Example: If a book has been out of print for a long time.|||Not supposed to be. ISBN numbers havent been around that long anyway, and each edition of a book has its own. Pax -C|||No.. never!|||If a library no longer has a book and doesn't intend to replace it, the bibliographic record might be at least de-activated from their online catalog; it might or might not be purged, depending on that particular library's practice %26amp; procedure. The bibliographic record would include the ISBN if the book had one. However, older books don't have ISBNs because the use of this standard number is a relatively recent phenomenon.
