What is the process for getting isbn no. for a publishing house?

We have a one publishing house ie "Chhandas Prakashan, Nagpur", We published some books in last few years. We want to get ISBN number for our publishing house. Please tell us the process for that.|||It must be on the book else its a pirated copy. I think so.|||You need to do better and much more professional research if you wish to continue to do business as a legitimate publisher.

You should not be on YA/B%26amp;A looking for a fly by night answer that still should be verified.

ISBN numbers are an internationally recognized system of tracking book titles. If you were to speak to a proper publishing company or copyright lawyer, they will tell you there is a fee to register your company more than likely because the first few digits of an ISBN identify the country of the publisher and the publishing house, the other letters and numbers are for the genre I believe and perhaps the year and month or some combination like that.

Again if you plan to be a reputable company then you need to get some legal advice and not ask on something that could get you sued if the information provided to you is incorrect and you utilize it anyway.|||DR,

I don't quite understand what you're saying, but when a book is published by a publishing house, even a vanity publisher, it must have an ISBN. This is how a book is identified for sales purposes because of other books with the same title. For instance, if you do a search on amazon like this:

amazon the talisman

When it comes up, scroll down and you will see information about the book. When it was published, the number of pages, and the ISBN.
