Do I need different ISBN numbers for translation?

Hello, I wanted to self-publish a book in English and French. Do I need to buy separate ISBN numbers for each language? Is there a way to have just one ISBN with a language code on each? Please help.|||You will need a unique ISBN for each version of the book you are publishing. The ISBN is used to identify your book with your title, author name, publisher, page count, language and the format (i.e. paperback, hardcover, ePub, eBook, audio, etc.) So each version of the book (English and French) will need it's own ISBN. From there if you are promoting the book in more than one format (which I would highly recommend, it will give you more distribution and potential for sales/buyers) each format, in it's respective language, will need it's own ISBN.

If you offer the English version in paperback and ePub = 2 ISBNs

If you offer the French version in paperback and ePub = 2 ISBNs

Total # of ISBNs in this example = 4

You can buy your ISBNs in blocks, so it is less expensive per ISBN that way. http://www.myidentifiers.com

Best of luck!
