If 2 books have different publisher and edition but have the same ISBN number would the book be the same?

I need this Calculus book and the I found the book with the same ISBN number, however the publisher and the edition is different. Will the book still be the same b/c they have the same ISBN number or different books? Thanks|||ISBN Numbers are unique to every book just like a social security number. My guess is that it's the same book. Maybe it was published once by one publisher then republished by another. The first publisher might have decided not to publish a later edition. If that's the case then the books are the same. It's been my experience that textbooks don't differ drastically between editions.

Another possibility is maybe the site you're looking at made an error in posting the ISBNs and they really are two different books. Check other sites like BN or Amazon. Half.com usually has a link that shows you different editions of a book.

My suggestion would be to get in contact with the teacher who is asking for the book. He or she should be able to tell you which they want and if there is any difference at all between the two. You could also try looking up the book's website. Most textbooks these days come with one. The site should list the different editions.|||Yes, except for slight differences. Most differences between book editions/publications are minimal though.
