If a book has the same edition number & ISBN but a different copyright date is it the exact same book?

I need to buy a book for one of my classes %26amp; on the class website is says the copyright date is 09 but I can only find books with the copyright date of 07. They are both 9th edition %26amp; have the same ISBN. Are they the same book?|||If they're both ninth editions, I'd think that they're the same. Isn't there someone from the school whom you could ask, perhaps through the website? That's the only way to know for certain. You need to be sure that you do have the correct book!
