My husband is a novelist. He gave me an ISBN number and asked if i could find out anything about what's going on with his book. Does anyone know how I could use an ISBN number? On a site? to locate his book?|||You can do a search at amazon with just the ISBN (right in the regular search box).
Amazon has a pretty good database, but a better option would be Books in Print. Usually you can access this through your library (I can do it at home through my library website), or go to a bookstore and ask them to look it up in Books in Print for you.
Bear in mind that an ISBN is only for a specific edition of a book. One edition may be out of print (say, the hard back), but the book may still be in print in other editions.|||You can also try your local bookstore.|||yes. try this.|||Good question! Have you tried asking the Librarian this question at the Library of Congress' website at: loc.gov? If not, I would try their site before all others. If it was written anywhere, they have a list in this library as this is the modern day equivelent of the Library of Alexandria.|||Try an internet search of that number, type ISBN and then the number. Also, first try http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ and select books, type in the ISBN and see if it comes up.|||isbn is the only thing you need actually. every book has a different number and it is impossible for a book to go around and get published without this particular number. you can check it at www.amazon.com, most of the books are there or just add the number at a blank search bar and see what you get.|||type it into any search engine
also i think amazon does searches by isbn|||Try googling the ISBN or searching for it on amazon.com. You can look up books by ISBN on Amazon, and they show up even if Amazon doesn't carry it or it's out of print.
